Okinawa Vettes:
Pics of Corvettes spied on the Tropical Japanese paradise called Okinawa......
Although Okinawa is a small island, only about 63 miles long by about five miles wide at it's widest point, there is a huge American presence here. Part of that is a fair number of Corvettes. Some are in great shape, others aren't so fortunate. Rumour has it that Vettes can be had fairly cheap here, due to the void of mechanics with the know-how to keep them on the road.

1971 454
This one is actually right across the street from me. I've only seen it uncovered once, following a typhoon that blew the cover off. I've talked to the owner, who is my neighbor, a civilian DOD Schools employee, about the car. It isn't in running order, but it looks pretty good. It is bright red, and has a good black leather interior. He did have it on the road at one time over here, and couldn't activate the inside door handle, so he had to disassemble it to get out, and he now has a new panel ready to install. He's hoping that the local DOD High School shop class will take this on as a project to get the motor up to speed. I'll update this as I learn more.

1982 Collector Edition
I spied this one on Hwy 58 across from Kadena Airbase on a Sunday Afternoon. It's sitting in front of an abandoned building. When I got out to look at it, I was amazed. The interior and the body both look like they are factory new. It has obviously had a ton of yen poured into it, as the leather seats, carpet and paint are all NEW. It also has the wood inserts on the dash. This is one good looking car.

Sad Shark
This one suddenly appeared on my run route, outside of Futenma Marine Corps Air Station last week. It is unregistered, and doesn't appear to have run in a while. It has really seen better days.

I took it when he wasn't looking. I took it when he wasn't looking. I took it when he wasn't looking. I took it when he wasn't looking. I took it when he wasn't looking.
